Mavs GM didnāt know impact of Luca on the team

Dallas Mavericks general manager Nico Harrison held an end-of-season press conference Monday afternoon.
The press conference on Monday lasted roughly 30 minutes, far less than last week's hour-and-change discussion where Harrison was peppered with tough questions from local and national Dallas media members. While Harrison wanted to talk about the season at-large, the only topic worth mentioning was the mind-boggling decision to trade Luka DonÄiÄ in February.
"I did know that Luka was important to the to the fanbase, I didn't quite know to what level,"
LeBron James and JJ Redick say Lakers weren't ready for Timberwolves' physicality in Game 1

The most surprising result from the first day of the 2025 NBA playoffs was the Minnesota Timberwolves' 117-95 win over the Los Angeles Lakers in Game 1 of their first-round series. After taking the lead early in the second quarter, the Wolves never trailed again and spent the entire second half up by double digits.
āThey're one of the best teams in basketball," Lakers coach JJ Redick said.
"I'm not sure physically we were ready, if that makes sense. And really, when they started playing with a lot of thrust and physicality, we just didn't respond to meet that."

Laviolette and Bylsma Fired

Peter Laviolette was fired as coach of the New York Rangers. No replacement was named.
Laviolette coached the Rangers for two seasons after being hired June 13, 2023. He was 94-59-11, but New York failed to reach the Stanley Cup Playoffs this season after winning the Presidents' Trophy and reaching the Eastern Conference Final last season.
Dan Bylsma was also fired as coach of the Seattle Kraken on Monday.
Bylsma was in his first season with the Kraken after replacing Dave Hakstol on May 28, 2024. They went 35-41-6, finishing seventh in the Pacific Division and missing the playoffs for the third time in their four-season history.
Penguins expect Sullivan to return as coach next season

Mike Sullivan likely will remain coach of the Pittsburgh Penguins, general manager Kyle Dubas said Monday.
Under contract through 2026-27, Sullivan is the longest-tenured coach in Penguins history. He is 409-255-89 in 10 seasons, winning the Stanley Cup his first two after being hired Dec. 12, 2015.
"I think he was very clear with his intentions last week and what he's expressed in our conversations," Dubas said. "So I'll meet with Mike tomorrow and sort through everything."

Jets GM Refuses to Address Aaron Rodgers's Complaints About Final Meeting

Former starting quarterback Aaron Rodgers last week called out the new brain trust of GM Darren Mougey and head coach Aaron Glenn for how they handled his exit from the team. Rodgers criticized the pair for flying him out to the team facilities in New Jersey just to briefly inform him they'd be releasing him.
The Jets have not commented publicly on the situation since Rodgers shared his side of the story on the Pat McAfee Show on Thursday.
āI understand the question, but I'm just going to talk about the draft and current Jets playersā
