LA Dodgers Advance to World Series

The Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the Milwaukee Brewers, 5-1, on Friday in Game 4 of the National League Championship Series, completing a sweep and earning a spot in the World Series.

The Dodgers got the win thanks to Shohei Ohtani's two-way brilliance. He pitched six innings, striking out 10 batters while also hitting three home runs.

He became the first pitcher in MLB history to hit a leadoff home run and first Dodgers pitcher to hit a home run in a postseason game. He also hit one out of Dodger Stadium.

It was one of the greatest postseason performances ever and will definitely be remembered in the record books, regardless of what happens in the World Series.

NWhat Schertzer Told Coach After Refusing to Leave Mound

In vintage Max Scherzer fashion, pitcher Max Scherzer refused to come out of the game during a fifth inning mound visit from Blue Jays manager John Schneider in the team's 8–2 win in Game 4 of the American League Championship Series.

A fired-up Scherzer yelled in Schneider's face, sending his manager back to the dugout, before he picked up a huge strikeout to snuff a potential Mariners rally and end the fifth inning.

By now, many fans have seen the video of that exchange—the mound visit outburst heard 'round the world.

But what fans may not have seen or heard is that the conversation was ongoing in the dugout after the fifth inning. Schneider approached Scherzer in the clubhouse following the mound visit and asked the 41-year-old if he was alright to continue pitching in the sixth inning.

Maple Leafs already facing pressure as starting goalie rips teammates

There really was not any aspect of the Maple Leafs game on Saturday night that Stolarz was happy with, and it seems to be something that has been gnawing at him all season.

He was mad that Kraken forward Mason Marchment plowed into him, resulting in him having to stand up for himself.

He was mad about how Seattle outplayed Toronto for most of the night.

He was upset with how Seattle's goalie had clear looks at shots, while he had to deal with constant traffic in front of his net.

He was not really wrong about any of it.

Golden Knights bring in Carter Hart after goalie's acquittal

Goaltender Carter Hart is joining the Vegas Golden Knights organization, making his return to the NHL after he was among the five Canadian hockey players found not guilty of sexual assault charges this summer.

The Golden Knights announced Hart's addition Thursday, noting in a statement that the goalie had been reinstated by the NHL and NHL Players' Association.

Hart was one of five players on Canada's 2018 under-20 world junior team who was found not guilty of sexual assault charges in July.

No punishments were issued for Lions-Chiefs fight, beyond one suspension

The moments after last Sunday’s Lions-Chiefs game included a brawl sparked by Detroit safety Brian Branch hitting Kansas City receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster when Smith-Schuster was extending a post-game handshake.

Chaos ensued, with plenty of pushing and shoving and (if you look closely) more hitting. However, the NFL imposed no discipline on anyone other than Branch, who was suspended for a week.

Mike McDaniel fields more questions about job security after Dolphins drop to 1-6

Miami Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel spoke from the heart, yet appeared to be out of answers. Questions about his job status, however, were plentiful.

The Dolphins threw three interceptions, fumbled six times, committed three personal fouls and were soundly outplayed in all phases of a 31-6 loss to the Cleveland Browns on Sunday.

"A game like this, I think we didn't see it coming," McDaniel said. "We're professionals who need to do our job better. You can't even go on to beating your opponent if you beat yourselves.

Kevin Durant gets $90M Rockets extension

Houston Rockets star Kevin Durant has signed a two-year, $90 million contract extension, with a player option for 2027-28, his business partner and Boardroom CEO Rich Kleiman told ESPN on Sunday.

Durant was eligible for a maximum contract extension of $120 million over two years, but he understood when he chose the Rockets as a trade destination that he would be sacrificing money on a new deal -- in this case around $30 million -- so that the two sides could partner for the long term and give the franchise team-building flexibility, Kleiman said.
