2025 NBA Draft Combine and Lottery to take place in Chicago

On Monday afternoon, the official dates for the NBA G League Combine, NBA Draft Combine and NBA Draft lottery were released per NBA Communications, all happening in May of 2025.
The G League Combine will take place May 9-11, the NBA Draft Combine May 11-18, and the Draft Lottery on Monday, May 12.
The events are important checks on the path to the 2025 NBA Draft. At both combines, NBA decision-makers will get an up close look at hundreds of basketball prospects, coming away with information regarding their vitals, athleticism, mindset and plenty more.
Clippers, Lakers to resume their wildfire-delayed schedules on Monday

NBA games are scheduled to return to wildfire-ravaged Los Angeles on Monday night, with the Clippers planning to resume their schedule when they host the Miami Heat and the Lakers set to host the San Antonio Spurs.
The Clippers said at practice Sunday that the NBA had given the go-ahead for the game at Intuit Dome in Inglewood, south of the sprawling Palisades fire.
The Spurs were told that, barring changes, they will play the Lakers on Monday as well at Crypto.com Arena in downtown Los Angeles.

Cowboys coach won’t return after this season

Mike McCarthy will not return as coach of the Dallas Cowboys, who are going on three decades since their last Super Bowl title, owner Jerry Jones said Monday.
Jones said the organization and McCarthy mutually agreed to part ways. A search for the team’s next coach begins immediately, he said.

Eric Staal’s #12 retired by canes

Eric Staal became the fourth player to have his number retired by the Carolina Hurricanes when his No. 12 was raised at the Lenovo Center prior to the team's 3-2 overtime loss to the Anaheim Ducks on Sunday.
The Thunder Bay, Ontario, native and former No. 2 draft pick spent 12 of his 18 NHL seasons with Carolina, recording 455 goals and 608 assists over 1,365 career games. He served as captain from 2009 to 2016 and appeared in six NHL all-star games, winning MVP honors in the 2008 contest.
The 40-year-old Staal, who retired in July after signing a one-day contract with the team, joined Rod Brind'Amour (17), Ron Francis (10) and Glen Wesley (2) in the rafters.
Flyers and 76ers announce plans for new arena

The 76ers ownership group revealed plans to build a new arena in South Philadelphia on Monday, one day after news broke that they had abandoned their planned arena on Market Street.
Harris Blitzer Sports Entertainment, which owns the Sixers, will team up with Comcast Spectacor to construct a "world-class, state-of-the-art arena" in the South Philadelphia Sports Complex, the companies said in a press release. Comcast Spectacor owns the Wells Fargo Center, and the Sixers pay to play there.
