Ja Morant switches to grenade gesture after NBA fined him for finger-gun gesture and weapons violations

Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant is committed to his new grenade celebration. Morant continued to use the gesture Thursday, which received criticism from the "NBA on TNT" crew.

Charles Barkley and Kenny Smith took Morant to task for the celebration ā€” in which Morant mimed tossing a grenade into the crowd after hitting a 3 as the Timberwolves were on their way to routing the Grizzlies. Smith was the most critical, saying Morant should "leave the celebrations where people might die alone." Barkley called the celebration "immature."

Luka Doncic got a standing ovation in his return to Dallas, while the man who traded him away was showered with chants of ā€œFire Nico.ā€

Budweiser sends special cans to goalies who Ovechkin never scored against

After Alex Ovechkinā€™s record-breaking goal on Sunday, Budweiser decided to share a toast with the 28 goalies who never gave up a goal to Ovechkin.

On Monday, the beer company announced its ā€œKing of Zeroā€ campaign, sending a customized can of Budweiser Zero to each of the goalies on the elite list.

The cans include the goalieā€™s jersey number, the number of shots each goalie faced, and a customized written paragraph.

Longtime NHL general manager Ray Shero dead at 62

Longtime NHL executive Ray Shero, who led the Pittsburgh Penguins to a Stanley Cup title in  2009, has died. He was 62.

Shero's passing was first announced by the Minnesota Wild. No cause of death was provided. USA Hockey said on social media that Shero died Tuesday night.

Miranda sent to minors after lazy base running error

The Minnesota Twins have optioned third baseman Jose Miranda to Triple-A St. Paul, according to the transaction section of his official MLB page. This came nearly immediately after a game in which Miranda made a pretty terrible mental error. Miranda is hitting .167.

Astros fan ejected after ripping foul ball out of Mike Trout's glove

Trout made the play at the wall in foul territory down the first-base line, with replay clearly showing the ball landing in his glove and the glove closing. It was only a split-second later when an Astros fan managed to pull out the ball.

The umpires eventually ruled the play was a foul ball, unlike the Mookie Betts play where fan interference was called at Yankee Stadium.

Joe Flacco returning to Browns on one-year, $4 million deal

Joe Flacco is headed back to Cleveland.

The Browns and Flacco agreed to a one-year, $4 million contract, NFL Network Insider Mike Garafolo reported Friday, per sources informed of the deal.

ESPN first reported the news, which was subsequently announced by the team.

It's a return to Cleveland for the 40-year-old Flacco, who spent 2024 in Indianapolis after helping the Browns to the postseason in 2023.
