Jason Tatum Injury Update

Jayson Tatum underwent successful surgery on Tuesday to repair his ruptured his Achilles tendon. The Celtics announced no definitive timetable on his recovery when announcing the procedure.
Marc Spears of Andscape revealed some insight on Tatum’s conversations with his family over the past two days, including with his father Justin Tatum.
“His dad said he expects to be out 8-9 months,” Spears said on ESPN’s NBA Today Wednesday.
Anthony Edwards Joins NBA History in Warriors-Wolves Game 5
Edwards became just the sixth player in NBA history to eclipse 1,000 career playoff points before turning 24 years old. Edwards doesn't turn 24 until August, and joins Kobe Bryant, Tony Parker, LeBron James, Kevin Durant, and Jayson Tatum as the only players to do so.
What do all of those players listed have in common, though? They all have at least one NBA Championship to their name.

Flyers hire Rick Tocchet as next head coach

The Philadelphia Flyers hired Rick Tocchet as their coach Wednesday, hoping his return to the franchise will push them out of an extended rebuild and into playoff contention.
Tocchet spent 2 1/2 seasons in Vancouver and won the Jack Adams Award as NHL coach of the year in 2023-24 for guiding the Canucks to a 50-win season and first place in the Pacific Division. He did not have a contract moving forward and decided not to sign another with the Canucks two weeks after they missed the playoffs.
Quenneville hired as Ducks coach, replaces Cronin

Joel Quenneville said he is grateful to be back in the NHL and returns a humbled and better-educated person.
The 66-year-old was hired as coach of the Anaheim Ducks on Thursday, replacing Greg Cronin, who was fired April 19 after two seasons.
Quenneville has not coached since Oct. 27, 2021, with the Florida Panthers. He resigned the next day after he was named in an independent investigation into the Chicago Blackhawks for allegations by former player Kyle Beach of sexual assault by then-video coach Brad Aldrich in 2010.

MLB Reinstates Pete Rose

Pete Rose and Shoeless Joe Jackson were reinstated by baseball Commissioner Rob Manfred on Tuesday, making both eligible for the sport’s Hall of Fame after their careers were tarnished by gambling scandals.
Rose’s permanent ban was lifted eight months after his death and came a day before the Cincinnati Reds will honor baseball’s career hits leader with Pete Rose Night.
Manfred announced Tuesday he was changing the league’s policy on permanent ineligibility, saying bans would expire at death.
MLB said 17 individuals had their status changed by the decision.
Bud Black let go by Rockies in ninth season as manager
Rockies owner Dick Monfort determined that Sunday was the perfect time to let the big shoe drop: Manager Bud Black was relieved of his duties.
Third-base coach Warren Schaeffer was instituted as interim manager. Bench coach Mike Redmond also was let go, with Clint Hurdle replacing him and shedding the interim hitting coach title he held since replacing Hensley Meulens on April 17.
After Black’s final game -- a 9-3 victory over the Padres at Coors Field to end an eight-game losing streak -- the Rockies are 7-33. That’s just a game better than the worst 40-game starts in Major League history. They are coming off consecutive 100-plus loss seasons.
