NBA Says Refs shouldn't have called that late foul

It turns out that Austin Reaves wasn't fouled late in the Los Angeles Lakers' overtime win over the Denver Nuggets on Saturday night.

That's according to Sunday's last-2-minute report from the NBA that states officials shouldn't have called a foul on Spencer Jones with 9.2 seconds remaining in regulation. The foul sent Reaves to the free-throw line where he hit two free throws, and the Lakers ultimately won the game in overtime.

Celtics' Jaylen Brown calls out NBA for rewarding 'foul baiting'

Jaylen Brown was not pleased that he got ejected during the Boston Celtics' 125-116 loss against the San Antonio Spurs on Tuesday.

Brown used this as a jumping-off point to express his displeasure with "foul baiting." Maybe, if he had embellished the contact, he would have gotten the call against the Spurs. He suggested that he could have sold calls on multiple drives late in the Thunder game, too.

Auston Matthews’ Agent Rips NHL Player Safety Over Radko Gudas’ Five-Game Suspension For Kneeing Maple Leafs Star

The NHL Department of Player Safety issued a five-game suspension to Anaheim Ducks captain Radko Gudas one day after a knee-on-knee hit on Toronto Maple Leafs captain Auston Matthews. The decision came on the same day that the NHL DOPS announced that Gudas would have a phone hearing to review the hit. Because the Ducks defenseman was not offered an in-person hearing, the maximum the suspension could be was five games, which he indeed received.

But that did not sit well with Matthews’ agent, Judd Moldaver, who issued a statement on the suspension to multiple reporters, including Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman.

USA 2, Dominican Republic 1: How U.S. Advanced to WBC Championship in Thrilling Nail-biter

The United States beat the Dominican Republic 2-1 in the semifinals of the 2026 World Baseball Classic on Sunday night to advance to the finals for the third consecutive tournament. The game, which featured loads of All-Stars, lived up to the hype and produced the kind of game we were hoping it would.

Junior Caminero opened the scoring in the bottom of the second, as he lifted a hanging sweeper off starting pitcher Paul Skenes and sent it over the left field wall for a 1-0 lead. It didn’t take long for Team USA to answer back.

New union head says 2027 MLB work stoppage could disrupt plans for big leaguers at 2028 Olympics

A work stoppage that leads to canceled games during the 2027 Major League Baseball season could disrupt plans under discussion to have big league players participate in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.

The Major League Baseball Players Association is negotiating with Major League Baseball, the IOC, the Los Angeles Organizing Committee for the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games and the World Baseball Softball Confederation on the six-nation baseball event, scheduled for Dodger Stadium from July 15-20 during what could be an extended All-Star break.

Bucs Sign QB Jake Browning

The Buccaneers signed former Bengals' backup quarterback Jake Browning on Friday. Browning served as the Bengals' backup quarterback for a third-straight season in 2025, after spending the '21 and '22 campaigns on Cincinnati's practice squad. Last season, he made three game starts (five games played) and totaled 81 completions on 125 attempts for 771 yards and six touchdowns.

Previously, he stepped into the starting quarterback role for the final seven games in 2023, following starter Joe Burrow's season-ending injury in Week 11. As a starter, he completed 71.5 percent of his passes for 1,868 yards and 11 touchdowns, becoming the third NFL quarterback since 1950 with at least 1500 passing yards, 10 touchdowns and a completion percentage of 70 in his first seven career starts.

Kansas City Chiefs lose three-time Super Bowl winner to NFL rival... just months after bringing him back

The Kansas City Chiefs parted with defensive tackle Derrick Nnadi again in free agency, less than a year after bringing him back.

He joined the New York Jets in March 2025, after he became an unrestricted free agent. However, he never suited up for Gang Green as he was traded back to the Chiefs just five months later.

Nnadi has now left the Chiefs in free agency once again. This time, the three-time Super Bowl winner has agreed a deal with the Indianapolis Colts.
